Verdi’s “Sempre Libera”

Is Love Freedom and Security?

Here is a video of the paper I wrote about the great aria “Sempre Libera” from Guiseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata.”  The critical basis for my paper is this central principle of Aesthetic Realism, stated by Eli Siegel:

“All beauty if a making one of opposites, and the making one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves.”

This video is from “People Are Trying to Put Opposites Together”, a public presentation at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation in New York City.  Enjoy!
